Joan Greenway

Managing Director

Joan joined Highfield in 1975 to help in the mail order office. She quickly became Office Manager and then a Director before she and Trevor Wellington, the Nursery Manager, bought out the company from Bonham Bazeley in 1987 and she became Managing Director. The driving force ever since, inspiring the continuing growth of a small mail order business right through to the present day multi-million-pound-turnover, state-of-the-art Garden Centre you now see, Joan (now 85) still comes to work 4 days a week and has clocked up 45 years’ service with the company.

Tim Greenway

Director

Tim first came to Highfield in 1976 as a young lad weeding pots on the nursery during his school holidays and at weekends. After finishing school he attended Pershore Horticultural College and then spent a couple of years working on various wholesale nurseries both in the UK and in Holland to learn all aspects of the horticultural industry. Tim works alongside Joan to keep the company moving forward, and has worked for Highfield full-time for 38 years.

Jon Mason

Director

Jon started his career as a Garden Centre Assistant at the age of 16 and attended Hartpury College on day release for 3 years. He quickly climbed the local horticultural ladder, and after joining Highfield in 1996 as Planteria Manager he vastly improved the layout and variety of plants sold. He was soon appointed as a Director in 2001. His excellent first-hand knowledge of plant availability means he can quickly let customers know if or when the plants they want are ready and for sale. He can still be found most days in his ‘shed’ answering customer queries.


Tim Armstrong

Director

Tim joined Highfield in 2015 as our General Manager. He was formerly a regional manager for World of Water and joined the Whitminster based concession in 1995. Through this position, he came to know the Greenways and Highfield very well, and so, when the opportunity arose for someone to come and lead our team, Tim was gladly appointed. Tim deals with all the day-to-day running’s of the Garden Centre, including customer issues, ordering from suppliers, and keeping an eye over the figures to ensure yearly success for the business. Tim is an highly valued member of staff and in 2020 he was made a Company Director. He works daily alongside Joan, Tim and Jon.

Stella Gray

Account Manager

Stella came to Highfield in 1980 straight from Pershore Horticultural College. Originally employed as stock controller dividing time between the office, the small garden shop and the mail order nursery, her role gradually evolved to become more office based. With the advent of computers in the company she found her passion and now handles the day to day running of the accounts for the company. In our Centenary year, Stella now has been part of the Highfield team for 40 years.

Julie Wyman

Chef

Julie has seen the Restaurant flourish and has been a mainstay and loyal member of staff during her 27years with Highfield, often stepping in at very short notice when cover was needed. With each expansion of our Restaurant, the number of customers increased and Julie has been a major contributing factor to the success, her home cooked food and caring nature towards both customers and staff have made her very popular – her tuna pasta bake is to die for!

Tracey Ryder

Pet Shop Manager

Tracey started at Highfield in the Planteria looking after the bedding plants, making up hanging baskets and pot arrangements. Today she is the Pet Shop Manager, looking after the animals and ensuring the shop is stocked with everything your pet could need. Tracey has been at Highfield for 14 years.

Lorraine Bailey

Food Hall Manager

Lorraine joined Highfield in 2021 and has taken the Food Hall from strength to strength. She has an eye for detail and enjoys maintaining and merchandising the Food Hall to the highest possible standard. She believes in supporting local food production as much as possible as it’s better for the local economy and it’s also a lot of fun! There are some very unusual and delicious local products out there that just can’t be found on the High St .

Sue Weaver

Clothing Manager

Sue is Joan’s Daughter, Tim’s Sister, and Emma’s Auntie – so very much part of a family affair! Sue joined Highfield in 2007 as an assistant in our cash office. She has since become our Clothing Manager – attending clothing trade shows throughout the year with other members of our clothing team, and deciding on new season fashions and trends. She also works alongside Emma in our cash office, and never far behind her is our office dog – her Jackahuahua Bobbi.

Oliver

IT & Marketing Manager

Oliver joined Highfield in 2023 and is responsible for all of our IT. He creates our popular newsletters, updates our website frequently, posts to our social media sites, and creates signage in-store and out. With a vast knowledge of computer technology – Oliver oversees the day to day running’s of our till and computer software systems, ensuring new products are added to our EPOS system and tackling any software problems that may arise!

Kevin Brindley

Furniture Manager

Kevin joins Highfield as the new face of our furniture department. He has been appointed manager and is taking great pride in helping the others in his team showcase our furniture and provide customer support to those wishing to purchase from our wide range of Indoor & Outdoor suites. Kevin joins us with a wealth of retail knowledge, having previously been Manager of Nailsworth Garden Centre.

Emma Russan

Accounts Assistant

Emma is Joan’s Granddaughter and Tim’s Daughter. Her first taster of working for Highfield was in the summer of 2008 when she worked over the school summer holiday for six weeks at our Plant Nursery on Whitminster Lane. She then joined the Garden Centre team in 2009, aged 16. She served customers on the tills and worked in the clothing department – taking part in our ‘fashion shows, and visiting the NEC to source new clothing. She left us for four years to work in an estate agency, but is now back for good – returning in January 2018 as a full-time member of staff. Emma currently works in our cash office, preparing figures for analysis, and organising our popular coach trips
